Cargo Insurance — All Modes of Transport | GCI Global

Cargo Insurance

Protect your shipments against loss, damage and theft. GCI Global issues cargo insurance certificates directly for all modes of transport — air, ocean and ground.

Why insure your cargo?

Carrier liability is limited by law and rarely covers the full commercial value of your goods. A damaged container, a lost pallet, a truck accident — without cargo insurance, the financial risk falls entirely on the importer or exporter. GCI Global offers cargo insurance certificates for each shipment, issued through our insurer partner, at competitive rates.

What is covered

Our cargo insurance covers all modes of transport on an All-Risk basis — the broadest available coverage.

Air freight
Coverage for goods transported by air from origin to final destination, including handling at airports and consolidation facilities.
Ocean freight
Coverage for FCL and LCL ocean shipments, including loading, sea transit, unloading and delivery to the consignee.
Ground freight
Coverage for shipments by truck across Canada and the United States, including LTL and FTL, from pickup to final delivery.
Intermodal
Coverage for shipments that use multiple modes of transport in sequence (e.g., truck + air + truck) — continuous coverage throughout.

Open Cover — certificate per shipment

GCI Global operates under an Open Cover policy with our insurer. This means we can issue an insurance certificate for each of your shipments quickly, without requiring a separate policy application each time.
Speed
Certificate issued at the same time as your freight booking — no delays, no paperwork back-and-forth.
Flexibility
Each shipment is insured individually for its declared value. You only pay for the shipments you insure.
Simplicity
One contact for your customs clearance, freight and insurance. Everything coordinated at GCI Global.

Common exclusions

The following are generally not covered (subject to specific policy terms):

Pre-existing damage prior to shipment
Inherent vice or nature of the goods (natural deterioration, perishables without special coverage)
Intentional misconduct or gross negligence of the insured
War, strikes and civil unrest (available as optional add-ons)

Why insure with GCI?
